Biografia
Stanley Townsend (nascido em agosto de 1961) é um ator irlandês. Townsend nasceu e foi criado em Dublin. Depois de frequentar o Wesley College, em Dublin, ele estudou matemática e engenharia civil no Trinity College. Enquanto estava lá, ele se juntou aos Jogadores da Universidade de Dublin, a Sociedade Dramática Amadora da faculdade. Mais tarde, ele co-fundou a companhia de teatro cooperativa Rough Magic com o escritor/diretor Declan Hughes e a diretora de teatro Lynne Parker, atuando em inúmeras produções, incluindo The Country Wife, Nightshade e Sexual Perversity em Chicago. Posteriormente, ele atuou em várias produções nos teatros The Gate e The Abbey em Dublin. Em Londres, trabalhou com diretores como Sam Mendes em The Plough and the Stars, Richard Eyre em Guys and Dolls e Rufus Norris em Under the Blue Sky. As aparições teatrais no Royal Court incluem The Alice Trilogy dirigida por Ian Rickson e Shining City dirigida por Conor McPherson, pela qual ganhou o Irish Theatre Award e foi indicado ao Evening Standard Theatre Award de Melhor Ator em 2004.
O trabalho televisivo de Townsend começou em vários programas para a RTÉ em Dublin. Desde que se mudou para Londres, as aparições na televisão incluíram Spooks, The Commander, Hustle, Waking the Dead e Omagh Bombing.
